For Arminia Bielefeld, loss of points has threatened their position in the Bundesliga. They stayed in the 15th place.
During the first half, both teams' efficiency was more than unsatisfactory. At the second half it was all Bayern.
Bayern’s midfielder Sebastian Schweinsteiger and Jose Ernesto Sosa worked out some good chances.
Anyhow, only in the 64th minute Italian international striker Luca Toni headed from very close range to the top right corner. He was assisted by French international Franck Ribery with a cross following a corner.
The win also relieved Bayern of marching out of the shadow stemming from the loss of Champions League.
"We needed the points to stay up there with Wolfsburg," said Bayern head coach Juergen Klinsmann.
"We have two home games next and we can keep pushing on. We're looking for maximum points. Wolfsburg will drop points sooner or later, and that's when we'll overtake them," he added.
